On 27 September, Monza's Autodromo Nazionale hosted the seventh round of the International GT Open. A 500-kilometre endurance event, the second in the season after Spa, on the circuit that the Italians call the temple of speed. Almost three hours of race, relay and strategy, in a setting where you hear the cars long before you see them arrive.

Rodrigo Testa was there, driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 number 63 of Villorba Corse, which he shares with Italian Leonardo Moncini in the Pro category. The young Italian-Portuguese rider arrived in Lombardy in the best arrangements: fifteen days earlier, in Hockenheim, the crew had signed his first pole position and his first win of the season, eleven years after the team's last success in this championship.

Monza has confirmed: from third place on the grid, Moncini and Testa have long let the Mercedes and McLaren fight their heads, before returning in their wake over the 87 laps. Everything was played at the last passage through the stands: the Huracán came out in the lead and was no longer joined. 2h46 race, 21 seconds ahead of the finish and the Ferrari of the championship leaders relegated to the foot of the podium. Second victory in two weeks, the first in endurance!

If he runs this season, it's also thanks to Lamborghini Geneva Racing Fund. The Fund exists to give young pilots a chance at this very moment in a career where talent is no longer enough. Rodrigo took his own: podium at Spa 500 in May, entry into Lamborghini Squadra Corse's Junior programs this summer, all at the age of 20.
